ALL GOOD THINGS COME TO AN END
We're sad to say that Friday September 19 will be our last day of trading and we will be closed after this. Trading conditions have been tough since Covid and despite our best efforts, we made the touch decision that it was best to call it a day.
Cafe Below first opened in 1989 as the Place Below. It was a vegetarian counter service cafe and quickly became a 'secret' City favourite. As the market changed, so did we: a new name, a new owner, a varied menu and a well regarding reputation for great service and simple food made from scratch by our team of chefs.
It's been a pleasure to serve our hundreds of customers; City workers, tourists, day drippers, church congregants and people who just stumble across us.
The staff have been here a long time - over 23 years for one, 13 years for three others and over seven years for the other two. That's pretty unusual in the restaurant world!
So in our final two weeks down here in St Mary le Bow crypt, please do come and visit us at least once more or for the first time to find out what you've been missing!
